Discover the Benefits of Shockwave Therapy at Wilbeck Chiropractic
A Non-Invasive Solution for Reducing Pain and Stimulating Healing
At Wilbeck Chiropractic, we’re committed to staying at the forefront of natural, evidence-informed care. That’s why we offer shockwave therapy—a modern, non-invasive treatment designed to reduce musculoskeletal pain and support your body’s natural healing processes. Whether you’re dealing with chronic joint discomfort, soft tissue irritation, or a sports-related injury, shockwave therapy may be a powerful addition to your care plan.
What Is Shockwave Therapy?
Shockwave therapy, also known as extracorporeal shockwave therapy (ESWT), uses focused acoustic waves to target areas of tissue that are inflamed, degenerated, or injured. These pressure waves stimulate the body’s biological response by:
- Increasing circulation to the affected area
- Breaking up calcifications or adhesions in soft tissues
- Encouraging cellular regeneration
- Stimulating collagen production and metabolic activity
This treatment is widely used in orthopedic, podiatric, and rehabilitation settings—and is now available at our Wichita chiropractic offices.
What Conditions May Benefit from Shockwave Therapy?
Shockwave therapy has been shown to reduce pain and stiffness in several common conditions, particularly when traditional care hasn’t provided adequate relief. Some of the conditions we may use this therapy for include:
- Plantar fasciitis and heel pain
- Chronic tendonitis (Achilles, patellar, rotator cuff)
- Tennis elbow and golfer’s elbow
- Hip or gluteal tendon pain
- Shoulder pain with calcific deposits
- Scar tissue and fascial adhesions
- Trigger points and muscle tightness
It’s also an excellent tool for athletes or active patients seeking to recover from overuse injuries without medications or surgery.
What to Expect During Treatment
Shockwave therapy is performed in-office by one of our trained staff members. A gel is applied to the treatment area, and a handheld applicator delivers controlled pressure waves to the tissue. Each session typically lasts between 5–10 minutes, depending on the area being treated. Most patients tolerate the procedure well and describe the sensation as mildly uncomfortable but very manageable.
Because it is non-invasive, there’s no downtime, and patients often return to their daily routine immediately after.
Our Approach at Wilbeck Chiropractic
We don’t believe in “one-size-fits-all” care. That’s why shockwave therapy is offered as part of a customized treatment plan, designed after a thorough examination, consultation, and—if needed—X-rays.
As board-certified chiropractors serving Wichita, Kansas, we integrate shockwave therapy alongside:
- Chiropractic adjustments
- Neuromuscular therapy
- Soft tissue mobilization
- Functional rehab exercises
- Doctor-supervised metabolic care (when applicable)
This comprehensive, multi-dimensional approach is how we’ve helped so many patients experience a reduction in pain and regain mobility over time.
